Crab cakes: Griddles are versatile kitchen tools that are good for far more than just pancakes. Here’s an easy, delicious crab cake recipe perfect for the griddle.

What You’ll Need for Delicious Crab Cakes:

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound lump crab meat
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs

Crab Cakes Directions:

Combine all ingredients besides crab meat and panko breadcrumbs. Stir until mixed well. Add crab meat, making sure to pull any sharp pieces. Add panko bread crumbs. Do not break up crab while mixing. Stir until just mixed.

Form into balls. (This recipe makes 6 large cakes.) Put on a foil-lined baking sheet and place in the refrigerator for at least an hour. This helps the cakes stay together during cooking.

Brush griddle lightly with oil. Place the cakes on the griddle and lightly press into cake shape. Cook over medium-high heat, 3-5 minutes per side.

Nothing goes as well with crab cakes as tartar sauce. While you won’t be using the griddle for this one, this simple tartar sauce recipe goes well with these crab cakes.

  • 1 cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons of Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons of sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon minced red onion
  • Salt, pepper, & lemon juice to taste

Stir well and refrigerate. Serve with the crab cakes.

For a simple and fun upgrade on these crab cakes, try toasting a brioche bun on the griddle. Put a touch of butter on the top and bottom of the bun and set it on the griddle on medium heat for a couple of minutes. Slather the bun with the tartar sauce and place the crab cake on it. The buttery, toasty bread is a delicious compliment to the creamy tartar sauce and the rich crab. I like to add some lettuce and avocado, but the toppings are ultimately up to you!
