Chicken is a great way to get protein in your diet, without having to consume any of the fatty content that is usually present in red meat. It is also a good source of B vitamins and iron. Cooking it on a griddle is a quick, easy and tasty way to prepare chicken.
First, wash out your chicken, carve out your desired cut and cover it with plastic wrap. Use a mallet or a rolling pin to flatten it out, until it’s around half an inch thick. This is the best thickness for griddle cooking.
Now it’s time for the seasoning. Use your favorite seasonings, or marinate your chicken. For example, you can create honey chicken by marinating it in a mixture of honey, lemon juice, some crushed garlic, a touch of olive oil and soy sauce, and a pinch of black pepper and other spices. Let it marinate in the mixture for around an hour. You can place them together in a plastic bag and shake it around so that it gets fully coated.
Next, preheat your griddle. Cook the chicken on both sides for around five minutes each. Use a metal thong or fork to turn it over.
You can save your mixture that you used to marinate the chicken in order to use it as a sauce. Just heat it up in a little pan and pour some of it over the chicken. You can also use plain sauce, ketchup or mustard.
You don’t have to serve it alone. Griddle some vegetables to go with your meal. Asparagus and corn are both great options. Griddle them for around five minutes, until they are slightly brown. Sprinkle them with some spices and olive oil before griddling them to make them even tastier.
